Repair of turbochargers
Contrary to many opinions, most turbochargers can be regenerated or repaired.
Some manufacturers object to the repair of VNT/VTG turbochargers. The background to this is the complicated calibration of the basic setting (MinFlow) of these turbo types. Here we have to agree with the manufacturers that correct calibration is only possible with a FlowBench, with which you can read out and set the MinFlow of the turbo. Experience has shown that all other setting methods cause deviations of up to 20% and more. Even with reused original parts, deviations of this size cannot be ruled out and must be readjusted.
This maintenance effort comes at a price. Finding a replacement at the cheapest price is often the wrong way to go!
The quality of the repair therefore stands and falls with:
- The repair method that can be used as a benchmark.
- Extent of the replacement of necessary or preventive risky parts by new parts.
- Correct calibration.
Generally, the housings of the turbochargers are reused. The prerequisite for this is, of course, that they are in a usable condition. When replacing the individual parts, such as the shaft wheel, bearing and sealing, new spare parts are used, which can be found at the quality level of the original manufacturer or better. The assembled core is balanced at operating speed (up to 280,000rpm). The fully assembled turbochargers are then reset by us or recalibrated on the FlowBench.
We guarantee a 12-month warranty!
If repairs are no longer possible or may not be economically feasible, we also offer turbochargers in exchange or as new parts. Regenerated turbochargers that are available in stock can be substitute immediately.
